Is spiritual awakening a painful process?

When a man steps into the world of spirituality then it should be understood that his mentality has already shifted from the materialistic world.

He leaves everything and happily embraces the path of spirituality. He is a person with a peaceful mind then, he earns for nothing, he bears no desires from this material world. He leaves everything joyfully and enters the spiritual world. So like this people after some years gathered or acquired the godly happiness in his life. So, the people with this mentality get the joyfulness of his life and at-last they realize the existence of “God”. Therefore the people with spiritual mentality never are in pain. And thus the viewpoint that spiritual awakening is painful gets proven wrong.
